Aloha

Hi everyone, have landed in Hawaii on holiday, forgot how awful those long flights are, my airport shoes didn't help at all. The weather is beautiful, and the people are very friendly.

We visited Pearl Harbour where a lot of lives were sadly lost in 1941.
The beaches are beautiful, we took a tour over Hawaii this morning in a helicopter, lots of gorgeous sights to take in, I was grateful to be back on the ground though,

Lots and lots of swimming, dining, shopping and walking.

Off for a swim now, have a fabulous weekend everyone.  Missing all your blog updates.xxx

Entertaining

Some lovely entertaining arrangements by Martha Stewart, of course.

I'm looking forward to summer entertaining, my garden has grown so much more this year with all the rain, its three years old now, even most of my hedges have all joined up.

Martha has so many fabulous entertaining ideas for any occassion.

I wonder whats in this room.x

What to pack

I found this gorgeous travel diary from Kikki K for my smallest big boy to use.

Lots of info to fill in and comes with stickers too.

I love this aeroplane tag too

Oooh, very stylish travelling bag, all travelling tips say to pack less, so you have more room for the new purchases.  Good advice.

This is gorgeous, so shiny, so organised.
What do you wear travelling, do you go in comfort, tracksuit perhaps, especially if your trip is overnight and involves an attempt at sleeping or do you have an airport outfit, comfortable but smart.  These are my airport shoes, I don't have toddlers to chase anymore, so I can wear a wedge to the airport, the more I wear the more room I have in my suitcase.

Have a great weekend everyone.x

Bunnings visit

Mum and I visited Bunnings this afternoon, these weeping cherry trees were gorgeous, people were filling up their trolleys with them.

very pretty, very spring,

I have already planted my heirloom tomatoes,

Geraniums

Who wouldn't want to live here.

Crab apple blossum tree, I love them so much I planted six last spring, they are so small, but I'm sure all this rain we are having right now will help.

Mum looks fabulous in red.

This is what I went to Bunnings for, some sugar cane mulch for the rose garden, so the weeds don't take over while we are away on holiday.

Mmmmm, biodegradable pot

We came across this vintage BBQ, it only comes in white though, some pastel colours would look nice, they are already loaded on trolleys in their boxes, ready to wheel out, they cost a bit more than the little round portable ones.  You could fit a few sausages on this one.

Enjoy your Tuesday.xx

Ikea

We have a new Ikea super store that has opened up here in Melbourne, I haven't had a big day out there yet.  Maybe when I get back from my holiday.

It is apparently so big, I will need to have morning tea and lunch and even afternoon coffee just to see the entire store.  This sounds like so much fun.

I haven't been to Ikea since it left Moorabbin years ago, the only memories I have of that store are when Kath and Kim were there shopping.

Do you have a big Ikea store near you, do you shop at any of the superstores, like Bunnings.  I love Bunnings too.

Cupcakes and birthdays

We recently celebrated a birthday over here, some friends popped in with some gorgeous cakes they made.  I took photos of mine too, but your not going to see those ones, I'll see how the next batch looks.

Present topper from Target.

I have a gorgeous collection of side plates, I found all of them at a local antique store, each one would have cost no more than $6.00, I would come home with one every week.

This cake was so sweet, its all gone now of course.

Do you make your own birthday cakes, how do they turn out. I would love to go to cake school, just to learn the finishing touches.x

Sweet Dreams

images from Housetohome.com.uk

I am halfway through making a pin board for my littlest son's room, I should finish it this week and post a couple of pictures, we need more space to show off all the beautiful artwork that comes home from school.

We have been to a fabulous musical this evening, put on by our primary school, each grade had two songs to perform.  There was so much dancing, it was beautifully choreographed, the costumes were to be admired.

Yes, I had to find one with shutters.

Have a fab week everyone.  x

Bathrooms and shutters

All of these images are from housetohome.uk

I have had shutters fitted in all my bathrooms, they are actually very easy to maintain, and look beautiful.

I have white clawfoot baths and a provincial style cabinet with basins.  The cabinet is finished  in timber, which adds warmth to my bathroom, with all the matchbox cars that sit in the bath too.x

Spring

Spring is finally here, the geese are patrolling the paddocks, the chickens are so happy in the sunshine, and on the deck, and sitting on my chairs (outside), and standing at the back door and driving the dogs mad.
Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor contemplating the week ahead.

I love this time of year, there have been no blog posts from me this last week, our internet is very, very, very slow.  This should be back to normal in a few days.

I am on a three week countdown till we depart on our trip, there is so much to be done.  I have spent the last week sewing corks on 20 hats for our school production, renewing childrens passports after realising they expire now and browsing slowly (because of slow internet) shoe catalogues on line and lots of spring cleaning.  What will this week bring?  Enjoy.x
